Levin North School - Preparing for the Future - Learn Achieve Enjoy - kia ako, kia mau, kia ora

Reporting End of year 2020

As has already been stated, over the next two years we are changing the way we report to you about your child’s learning progress. Rather than two written reports (mid and end of year) you will be sent regular ‘e’ samples of learning tasks and updates. You will be able to see how your child is progressing much more regularly.

This year we are starting by using two aspects of this new system- HERO

We are using the writing section and have created an interim reporting document called a Learning Summary both of these can be accessed ( when you get into HERO ) by clicking the 2020 report button.

The writing section of the report will look like this below:

                                   NE -  Years 1 and 2

                                                                                Years 3 and 4

                                                                                                                   Years 5 and 6

You will see the dials and these are aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum document (lines underneath indicate the HUGE range of ‘normal’- these are not visible on your screen) and while children progress at different rates we would expect that at the end of year 6, children will have almost completed the developing writer dials.

There will be a statement to indicate whether your child is working towards, at or above the expected level and three goals that he or she is working on.

Two writing samples will also be included; one from early in the year and one more recent to show you the progress they have made.

You will also see a summary from your child’s teachers of the learning in reading, mathematics, key competencies and other areas. It will also include a comment from your child.
