iClasses (established 2010)
What are our iClasses?
(also known as a ‘digitally enhanced classroom’)
✓they are environments where ‘digital natives’ can use the
✓tools they are familiar with.
✓where ICT is fully integrated into the curriculum on a
✓full time basis.
✓where students learn through the use of ICT equipment.
✓and are challenged using higher order tasks.
✓where there are authentic opportunities to create, problem solve, think
✓critically and process information to meet research needs.
✓the classroom fosters cooperation, self-management skills and is learner-
✓directed.
✓reporting to parents’ procedures are the same as for the rest of the school though we do consider that ‘electronic portfolios’ are likely to be more appropriate in the future.
✴the three Rs continue to be of prime importance.
✴students enjoy their education totally.
✴all units of work mirror planning used across
✴the school.
Equipment
The iClasses are equipped with modern apple computers - a balance between desktop and laptop - and is supported by the necessary technologies. Students have access to their own email and managed broadband internet.
